Review: Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Sorry I've been slow at making new posts but I've been really busy at work :( Today, I want to share a review on a book that's fun and cute. I read it awhile ago but I think it would make for a very enjoyable summer read!

Goodreads Summary:
Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

Review

This book was so much fun! The characters are awesome and just so hilarious.  The story's unique and captivating. I wanted more as I was reading.

I love how adaptable Harper is. She gets mixed up in this ancient conflict but still takes it on positively. Her girly personality combined with her super fighting skills led to very awkward but extremely funny scenes. I can totally imagine her in action wearing a dress :) Her rivalry with David adds even more comedic effects to the book when she discovered she was a Paladin and had to protect him (with her life). They're so adorable!!

I found myself widening my eyes when Harper and David discovered Ryan with Saylor's body. At that moment, I immediately knew what it meant. I think everyone knew what it meant. What a twist of fate! I have no idea where this series is going but I sure hope Harper gives Blythe a beating when they find her and Bee. That girl needs someone to teach her a lesson!

I feel nervous but excited at how the book ended. So many possibilities! I can't wait to see what kind of a team Harper, David and Ryan make! Probably the oddest because it is going to be so very awkward. One thing it'll be for sure is entertaining, hahaha.  I can't wait for more!

  1. Nice review! To scared to look at the blocked text because I still need to read this and I don't like spoilers! But sounds like you enjoyed it! I loved Rachel's Hex Hall series so I am eager to try this one! I have the book, but have yet to read it! As the problem tends to be for the reader!

  6. This was a fun read. The love triangle was kind of sad for me though mostly because I was so torn and I hate being torn! Her boyfriend was so sweet and she has been with him so long but David Stark was so cute too. And yes with that ending it will become one awkward threesome team!
