Goodreads Summary:
Full of intrigue and turns you won't see coming, TWISTED TRUTHS is New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti at her suspenseful best.
You can't escape the past . . .

Noni is desperate. Her infant niece has been kidnapped, and the only person who can save her is a private detective with too many secrets to count--and more enemies than he can name. A man who walked away from Noni without any warning a year ago, a man who broke her heart. But with Talia's life on the line, Noni needs his help now more than ever--and this time, she won't take no for an answer . . .

The moment Denver Jones sees Noni, the memories come rushing back. The fire in her eyes. The determination in her voice. The danger of having her in his life. Denver had to push her away once, but now with vicious criminals threatening Noni and her niece, he'll do whatever it takes to protect them. But enemies from his past are circling, and they'll use anything--and anyone--to get to Denver.

With twists and turns that will blow you away, TWISTED TRUTHS is sexy, action-packed suspense at its very best from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti.

Review

I'm always on the look out for suspense novels with good romance and twist so I jumped at the chance to read Twisted Truths even though it's the third and final book in a series. The story was easy enough to understand without having to have read the first two books.

The first half of Twisted Truths was slow going and predictable but the slower pacing wasn't too much of a bore as it helped me understand (I hadn't read the previous books) the character backgrounds and their relations. A couple times I found myself wanting to roll my eyes at the writing as it tended to be cheesy and overdramatic. I'm sorry but I'm just not one for the internal monologues of love sickness when there were serious dangers lurking about.

From the above one might think I didn't like the book however that is not true. I loved the main theme in Twisted Truths. From Noni looking for a baby not at all related to her to Denver always keeping his brothers in the loop, family was a big deal. It's really great to see the heavy emphasis. Knowing there are reliable people around makes all the difference in the world. Dare I say it made the characters much more tolerable and loveable than if they were just stone cold s.o.bs.

There's this sort of quiet strength in Noni and Denver. Both were brave, resilient and more than driven to meet their goals. Being caught in more than one deadly encounter did not waver Noni's resolve to save the baby. Denver more than filled his shoes in tracking down and protecting the innocent infant and those good around her. The two clashed on numerous occasions given their less than merry previous parting but they were all with noble intentions. It didn't hurt that those heated arguments, defiance and sarcasm led to some pretty steamy scenes.

The romance was fine but I found myself not nearly as invested in the couple as I wanted to be. This is a second chance romance but perhaps because I never got to see Noni and Denver together the first time, I couldn't really feel their importance to each other. I prefer being shown rather than told.

Twisted Truths has made me curious enough to want to pick up the previous Blood Brothers books. I read up on their synopses and if they're anything like Twisted Truth, I'd say there's a fair chance I'd enjoy them.

  1. Glad to know that this book can be read without reading the others in the series. I like the premise of the mystery too. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    1. My pleasure Natalie! I was wary going in but surprisingly the author does a good job integrating the previous characters in without much confusion.

  2. Zanetti writes everything when it comes to romance, it seems! I've read one of her steamy Brazen novels and enjoyed it for the most part. I'd probably pass on this one because of the second chance romance - I'm not a huge fan of them. But I have been enjoying this genre. Romantic suspense seems to be even more on the rise. 😀 Great review, Eileen!

    Have a wonderful day. =)
