Goodreads Summary:
Sloane isn't expecting to fall in with a group of friends when she moves from New York to Florida—especially not a group of friends so intense, so in love, so all-consuming. Yet that's exactly what happens.
Sloane becomes closest to Vera, a social-media star who lights up any room, and Gabe, Vera's twin brother and the most serious person Sloane's ever met. When a beloved painting by the twins' late mother goes missing, Sloane takes on the responsibility of tracking it down, a journey that takes her across state lines—and ever deeper into the twins' lives.
Filled with intense and important friendships, a wonderful warts-and-all family, shiveringly good romantic developments, and sharp, witty dialogue, this story is about finding the people you never knew you needed.

Review
Last year I read and loved Emma Mill's debut, First & Then. It's no wonder This Adventure Ends would become yet another favourite of mine. Emma Mills's writing is so catchy and fun, I love it.
Every character is a star in This Adventure Ends. Each shone in their own way and it was impossible not to care for them. They're a hearty bunch~ Having them lit up Sloane's (and my) life.
Sloane's a bit of a confusing character. She read like an unconfident teenager (doubting Vera's interest in her) yet she was able to effortlessly stand up for/to Gabe. I'm not quite sure what to make of her but she's definitely unique. Her sense of humour is quirky and adorable. I had so many laugh-out-loud moments with her. Priceless dialogues I tell you!
The rapport between Sloane and her father is fabulous. I love how easy it was for her to talk to him. He's so goofy. It warmed my heart to see them have a good time chatting about fanfic, AU and just general life stuff. Even when conflict arose between them I wasn't worried.
It was touching to see how much Sloane wanted to find the painting for Vera and Gabe. The painting was important to her too. She might not have realized why but I love what her search for the painting symbolized. So sweet when she realized it.
Sloane and Gabe had a very subtle and slow-burn type of relationship. For the majority of the book, the focus was on their friendship. My girly heart beat frantically when romantic things finally happened. I wish there were more swoons! I needed more "Hot Pockets"!
The small mystery over Remy and Aubrey's break up was such a realistic approach to relationships. Sometimes it just gets to be too much. That's the simple, honest truth.
I enjoyed This Adventure Ends so much I zipped through the book. Now all I want to do is go back and reread it. I miss all the characters and you definitely will too once you get to know them.
*I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinion are my own and not affected in any way.
I'm so with you!! I miss those characters already as well. I haven't found too many straight-up friendship books that I've completely loved like this one. My fave parts were definitely the scenes where the dad was involved. His love for Were School and the fandom was too much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked this as much as I did :)
It's such a great book! So happy you loved it too! Her dad's definitely a riot XD
