Goodreads Summary:
A new swoon-worthy romance following a couple's love story on the same date over four years.
Every May 7, the students at Coffee County High School take a class trip. And every year, Lulu’s relationship with Alex Rouvelis gets a little more complicated. Freshman year, they went from sworn enemies to more than friends after a close encounter in an escape room. It’s been hard for Lulu to quit Alex ever since.
Through breakups, make ups, and dating other people, each year’s class trip brings the pair back together and forces them to confront their undeniable connection. From the science museum to an amusement park, from New York City to London, Lulu learns one thing is for sure: love is the biggest trip of all.
Review
Miranda Kenneally writes some of the most realistic contemporary stories and I've always been a fan of hers. Four Days of You and Me felt a little different from her usual but I still enjoyed it quite a lot.
Told in a nonlinear fashion we follow Lulu and Alex's relationship through their teen years. At the center of Four Days of You and Me were the four class trips. Told around those trips were other important past events that happened between them. I wasn't sure about this type of storytelling since it had the potential to cause confusion, however, Ms. Kenneally worked it beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed the whirlwind that was Lulu and Alex's love story.
Lulu had a quirky personality not everyone understood or liked while Alex was well-received by everyone. They couldn't have been more different yet they were made for each other. I really enjoy seeing their relationship develop and mature. They shared so much together- heart-pounding firsts and heartbreaking moments. Even though Alex was a bit of an ass at times I knew without a doubt he and Lulu belonged together.
From the synopsis I should've known the romance would involve others but I was still a little blindsided to read about Lulu and Alex being with someone other than each other. Those chapters definitely weren't my favourite but I understood their importance so I patiently stuck through those pages.
I always love a good friendship in my books so it was pretty awesome finding a big group in Four Days of You and Me. The ups and downs these friends go through really tested their limits but they managed to remain friends through it all. "Maybe it doesn't matter where you are- maybe it's who you're with." (ARC, p.339). They were a surprisingly tight bunch.
Miranda Kenneally continues to amaze with her stories. The friendship and love in Four Days of You and Me filled me with warm fuzzy feels. I hope it gets a sequel!
