Goodreads Summary:
My body is made of scars,
some were done to me,
but most I did to myself.

Keera is a killer. As the King's Blade, she is the most talented spy in the kingdom. And the king’s favored assassin. When a mysterious figure moves against the Crown, Keera is called upon to hunt down the so-called Shadow.

She tracks her target into the magical lands of the Fae, but Faeland is not what it seems . . . and neither is the Shadow. Keera is shocked by what she learns, and can't help but wonder who her enemy truly is: the King that destroyed her people or the Shadow that threatens the peace?

As she searches for answers, Keera is haunted by a promise she made long ago, one that will test her in every way. To keep her word, Keera must not only save herself, but an entire kingdom.

Review

A Broken Blade surprised me in the best of ways. Going into the book with zero expectations worked out in my favour. I ended up enjoying the story and the characters quite a lot.

A Broken Blade drew me in little by little. The pacing suffered in the first hundred or so pages but the ample amount of action in the last half of the story made up for the slow drag. It was extremely satisfying to witness all the planning come to fruition. Not only were there explosive (literally) moments but the deviations drove the story down unexpectedly thrilling roads. I lived for the danger!

Surrounded by oppression and hostility, Keera did not cower. Even amid her constant personal struggles, she pushed back at the cruelty of the royalty in her own way. Keera's association with the Shadow forced her to reconnect with her past. She was able to reclaim and carry on an once important purpose. Now, Keera's identity is such a fun mystery. And thankfully we weren't left completely in the dark about it. Colour me interested.

Romances involving the Fae are always so intense- Keera and Riven's was no exception. You can spot the animosity between them from miles away yet the presence of attraction was undeniable too. Simmering beneath their open dislike of each other was an utterly delicious heat. And boy did they ignite~ I'm certain Keera and Riven will have many more obstacles to hurdle in the story to come but I'm also stoked to see where their relationship will head.

A Broken Blade is an exciting beginning to endless potentials. I couldn't be more delighted with that twisty ending complicating things. There's so much to look forward to in the next installment, I need it please!!
