Goodreads Summary:
A new king is on the throne and the rebellion lies in ruins. Keera spends her days drinking and her nights avoiding the strange dreams that have haunted her since she returned from the capital.
Keera’s family in Myrelinth won’t let her go without a fight. With new intelligence about the magical seals left behind by Keera’s ancient kin, the Light Fae, she rallies to face her demons and unleash the formidable powers she inherited from her people. But a shocking truth is hiding in plain sight, one with the power to unravel the entire rebellion...
The pivotal third installment in the Halfling Saga will upend everything Keera thought she knew about her enemies…and her allies.
Review
A Vicious Game is my least favourite book in The Halfling Saga but wow were there moments that left me speechless. The thrilling ending was the complete opposite of the slow beginning. I’m hyped to see how the series will conclude!
What I Liked:
- everyone standing by Keera
- the big (unexpected) rescue
- explosive fights
- planning = more successes
- teamwork
- Keera's new powers
- Gerarda was a badass all around
- Riven’s big reveal shocked me but I have mixed feelings on this
- a satisfying ending that also left me wanting more
The Not So Much:
- the first half of the book was boring
- Keera’s self-destructive behaviour
- again, the love triangle-y actions
- can Damien get any more twisted? ARGH
- how Riven’s big secret dragged through 3 books
“But it was easy for a stranger to believe the worst of someone.” (p. 248)
