TTT #33: Books For Readers Who Like Standalones

Top Ten Tuesday button

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish where people share their top ten things according to the topic of that week.

I didn't really want to just pick a genre so I decided to go with standalones. Although most of these turned out to be contemporary anyways..... A few of these have been out for awhile but I really enjoyed them! These are actually more general recommendations since some I've loved like Since You've Been Gone, I didn't include because it's already so well-loved~ Three of the books below belong to series but they can all be read as a standalone :)

Past Perfect by Leila SalesThe DUFF by Kody Keplinger
Fangirl by Rainbow RowellOn the Fence by Kasie WestIsla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
The Art of Lainey by Paula StokesSuch a Ruch by Jennifer Echols
The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose IvyThe Boys of Summer by C.J. DugganMaking Faces by Amy Harmon

1. Past Perfect by Leila Sales - Cuteness all around~
2. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger - Love how meaningful this book turned out to be!
3. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - My love for this book will never end!
4. On the Fence by Kasie West - Love the story, the characters and just everything!
5. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins - All the warm and fuzzy feels~
6. The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes - Hot guy with mohawk that cooks? Hells ya!
7. Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols - Lots of tension but oh so sweet~~
8. The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy - Fun and sexy times!
9. The Boys of Summer by C.J. Duggan - Such a fun summertime love story!
10. Making Faces by Amy Harmon - So emotional but SO good!

Which standalones do you love?

Review: On the Fence by Kasie West

For this review I'm trying something different. I realize a lot of people who haven't read the book wouldn't want to read a review with spoilers. So I decided to white out the spoilery parts and readers can highlight at their own discretion. I'm doing it this way because I really want to share ALL of my thoughts. Hope this works well!

304 pages

Goodreads Summary:
She's a tomboy. He's the boy next door…

Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn't know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she's got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she's falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.
