Goodreads Summary:
Lauren Layne kicks off her Sex, Love & Stiletto series with a delightful short novel! In After the Kiss, the star columnist of Stiletto magazine will do anything for a story. Anything . . . except fall in love.
Julie Greene loves flings. Loves steamy first dates, sizzling first kisses, and every now and then, that first sexy romp between the sheets. Comfy pants, sleepy Sundays, movie nights on the couch? Shudder. But when Julie gets assigned the hardest story of her career—a first-person account of that magical shift between dating and “I do”—she’ll need a man brave enough to give a total commitment-phobe a chance at more.
Normally, Mitchell Forbes would be exactly that man. A devastatingly hot workaholic who tends to stay in relationships for far too long, he should be the perfect subject for Julie’s “research.” But what Julie doesn’t know is that Mitchell is looking to cut loose for once in his life. And the leggy journalist notorious for avoiding love is exactly the type of no-strings fling he’s looking for. In other words, Mitchell is the polar opposite of what Julie needs right now. And, at the same time, he’s exactly what she wants.

Review
I've enjoyed a few Lauren Layne books in the past so I picked up After the Kiss with no doubt I'd like it despite it being one of her earlier works. I couldn't have been more right ;)
After the Kiss is an easy to read romance about two people finding love in a most unexpected fashion. Julie and her friends Grace and Riley are the trio behind the advice column called Dating, Love, and Sex- or more accurately Kiss, Cuddle, and Fuck (vulgar yet very apt). Julie is successful and great at her job until her boss asks her to write about something she doesn't have any experience in. So she sets out to gain some. She meets her match in a quiet Wall Street broker named Mitchell who also has something to prove. Both were unprepared for what came next.
There's so much sass and steam between Julie and Mitchell! Lauren Layne seriously writes some of the best sexual tensions ever. I loved watching these two banter. The chemistry between them felt so effortless. In the short time they've been together they've managed to see each other's real side. I knew it was only a matter of time before they really fell in love. Bonus that their sex scenes were hot as hell~
I wasn't impressed with the whole blow up and was thankful the dramatics were kept to a minimum. I hated the way things got outed though I'm glad it happened because the confrontations and hurt feelings were inevitable. It took some time but I'm relieved to see them go back to their sweaty sweet beginning.
I'm 99.99% sure I'll be binge-reading this series. I can't wait to read the other ladies' stories! I'm sure they'll all be as fun and flirty as this starter of this fabulous series ;)
I think I read and enjoyed this series as well. It's been ages, though. Lol.
