Review
If I could only pick one word to describe Once Upon a Broken Heart it would be whimsical. The story, the world and the characters were all extremely captivating. I could not get enough.
I devoured Once Upon a Broken Heart in no time. Stephanie Garber's writing is lovely. "There was something fantastically bewitching about the idea that a person's destiny could change in one single, wondrous night." (ARC, p. 137) Her words are so dreamy and enthralling~
Jacks, to no one's surprise, stole the show in Once Upon a Broken Heart. Our beloved Prince of Hearts from the Caraval series, was as mysterious and alluring as ever. With impossible-to-guess motives, he kept the story going. I'm more than a little curious to see what his end game is. Knowing Jacks, it's a deliciously nefarious one ;)
The exquisite tension between Evangeline and Jacks was to die for! These two kept us guessing. Even with some swoony romantic moments, it's hard to figure out what each feels for the other. Especially when it came to Jacks. He doesn't make it easy... I am cautiously hopeful he truly falls for Evangeline and have a happy ending with her.
Once Upon a Broken Heart was unputdownable. The moment I opened the book to its first page, I was all in. Naturally its last page has left me broken-hearted. I need the next book yesterday. Please?
