Goodreads Summary:
The finale to the epic Bring Me Their Hearts series reaches its thrilling conclusion, full of intrigue, emotion, and of course romance.
Reunited with Lucien, Malachite, and Fione, Zera finally has the choice of whether or not to regain her humanity and give up her life as a Heartless. But with war raging and an army of valkerax on the loose, she’s never needed immortality more. Will they be able to stop Varia without sacrificing themselves in the process?
Review
Having loved Bring Me Their Hearts and enjoyed Find Me Their Bones, I had hopes of finishing the series on a high note. While Send Me Their Souls was my least favourite out of the three books, it was a nice deserving ending.
What I Liked:
- the creative but also somewhat disturbing rules of magic
- our main cast of characters and the rapport they share
- badass Zera making all her own choices
- the love story between Zera and Lucien had my whole heart
- Lucien's total respect for Zera
- Mal always having Luc's back
- meeting new characters
- guest appearances!!
- the battles were epic
- the much-needed epilogue XD
The Not So Much:
- the pacing was off- slow one second then fast then slow again
- the writing can be a little convoluted at times
- the constant traveling was long and boring
"But guilt never really goes. Maybe the guilt will never be gone, not completely... Maybe you just live with it, until it becomes as natural as part of your body, another limb you move through the world with." (p. 61)
"We make promises to make people feel better, to give them hope, and when the time comes to fulfill, it's often impossible. Promises themselves are just empty words." (p. 225)
"What is gratitude...but a promise made whole?" (p. 225)
