Goodreads Summary:
A clever, tender, and romantic "Nora Ephron romp for the modern ages" (Christina Lauren) for readers of Jasmine Guillory, Abby Jimenez, and Sophie Cousens, this laugh-out-loud debut is a perceptive reminder that fate can have a sense of humor, and that love can happen . . . In a New York Minute.

Franny Doyle is having the worst day. She’s been laid off from her (admittedly mediocre) job, the subway doors ripped her favorite silk dress to ruins, and now she’s flashed her unmentionables to half of lower Manhattan. On the plus side, a dashing stranger came to her rescue with his (Gucci!) suit jacket. On the not-so-plus side, he can’t get away from her fast enough.

Worse yet? Someone posted their (entirely not) meet-cute online. Suddenly Franny and her knight-in-couture, Hayes Montgomery III, are the newest social media sensation, and all of New York is shipping #SubwayQTs.

Only Franny and Hayes couldn’t be a more disastrous match. She’s fanciful, talkative, and creative. He’s serious, shy, and all about numbers. Luckily, in a city of eight million people, they never have to meet again. Yet somehow, Hayes and Franny keep running into each other—and much to their surprise, they enjoy each other’s company. A lot. But when Franny’s whole world is turned upside down (again!), can she find the courage to trust in herself and finally have the life—and love—she’s always wanted?

Review

In a New York Minute is a light romance full of sweet possibilities. With dynamic characters and some really really awesome friendships, the story put a big smile on my face while I was reading.

Franny is such a likable character. I adored her easy-going personality and her eye for design. Her positivity made it easy to overlook the fact that she had worries too. "But sometimes self-doubt was an easier path to take than blind confidence." (p. 80) So relatable. Franny's insecurities led her to some poor decisions but she quickly learned the errors of her way. I loved seeing cheerful Franny grow into a cheerful AND self-assured Franny!

I liked Hayes Montgomery the Third from the first moment we met him in In a New York Minute. Ever the gentleman, he was also surprisingly full of depth. "But what I realized is that sometimes it can feel safer to be with the wrong person than to find someone who really feels right." (p. 220) Hayes was a wonderful love interest in every way.

Though I swooned over Franny and Hayes's connection, I felt the author went easy on them. Especially when it came to Serena, the woman Hayes was seeing while developing a friendship with Franny. The way Serena exited her relationship with Hayes felt too convenient. Don't get me wrong, I love a minimum drama romance but I almost wish Franny and Hayes had a few more obstacles to test their connection.

Cleo and Lola are the most amazing of friends! I'm jealous of Franny. She's so lucky to have such supportive gal pals. They knew when to lift Franny up and when to just be there for her. Hayes too had a great support network. Knowing him well, Eleanor and Perrine helped Hayes recognize his feelings.

Romantic and authentic, I enjoyed every minute of In a New York Minute ;) With some of the nicest characters I've read about, it's a romance that is so easy to fall in love with. #SubwayQTs forever!
