TTT #30: Book-related Problems I Have

Top Ten Tuesday button

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish where people share their top ten things according to the topic of that week.

I went with every habit of mine I could think of that related to books. I wouldn't even consider some of them problems if you know what I mean ;)

1. I gush about books to my family but they don't understand me. I might as well be speaking an alien language.

2. I have an undying love for hardcover books. I can get very stubborn and insistent on getting the hardcover editions.

3. First thing I do when I wake up every morning is check Bloglovin for new posts from blogs I follow. Most of the time this makes me late for work, oops.

4. I spend at least an hour a day visiting and/or commenting on blogs. This isn't a problem except that it's time-consuming.

5. I'm on Twitter a lot checking for any books news and chatting with other booklovers. Happiest time :D

6. I'm constantly refreshing my email inbox for book-related things and browsing bookstores online. Somebody needs to pry the computer and my phone away from me.

7. I'm on Goodreads almost every hour looking at books, reading and liking reviews. I really love the convenience of that site! Although I do wish they'd upate some features like half star ratings.

8. I stalk my mailbox waiting for bookmail like there's no tomorrow. Pretty sure my parents are sick of me calling home and asking if I got any mail.

9. I have multiple wish lists (Amazon, Indigo and Goodreads). I'm constantly adding and deleting things from them and I don't even know what's on each list anymore. Nobody except I look at them anyways lol.

10. When I'm writing my reviews, I bite my nails. My hands are free and I need something to do when my head's thinking. This is probably the worst habit ever. I hate it but sometimes I just can't stop :(

What book-related problems do you have? Do you share any of mine?

  1. I spend at least an hour each day looking at and commenting on blogs, too. That's an hour of reading time I give up, but it's worth it. I love hardcovers, too. I've finally loosened up on the need for them though. I just get annoyed when the covers change midway through a series. Great list!

  2. I wish for half star ratings as well! It would make my life easier. ;)

I love these and I agree, problems but not really problems at the same time. I do many of these things as well. :P

    1. I never know whether to put 3 or 4 stars on a 3.5 star book for me :( Half stars would just make so much sense! Even quarter stars would be fine lol!

  3. OMG number one! I can totally sympathize! Last night I was trying to tell my husband why I NEED the new illustrated editions of the Harry Potter books. His response is, "Why? You already have the old ones." I mean, is that a real question?! Haha!

    Here are my Top Ten!

    1. That is unacceptable, we never have too many even if it is the same story!! I hope you gave him a lesson and he understands now ;)

  4. I agree with a lot of these, especially the computer/phone addiction and the mail thing. Yep!

  5. Yup! I spend a lot of time on Twitter, looking at Bloglovin, and commenting on blogs! I also have multiple wishlists and check my mail every day hoping that there is some book-related goodie inside!

I feel like the way you are with hardcovers is how I am with paperbacks. Don't get me wrong, I love a good hardcover but I would rather wait until it comes out on paperback to own the book. But sometimes I can't wait like with final books in a series and then I have mismatched series which is just now starting to annoy me!

    1. Yay for every problem we share~~ Omg if I had mismatched series, I'd rebuy them just so they'd match. LOL. That's bad I know but they annoy me so much I just can't. Help! Hahahaha

  6. I stalk my mailbox and porch so much it's not even funny. I gush about books to my family and I'm pretty sure it goes in one ear and out the other. I spend wayyy too much time on Twitter. I'm so bad at commenting back, I'm like two weeks behind...

    1. High fives for everything! I wouldn't worry too much about falling behind because you're already here commenting! I'm sure you're doing the best you can :)

  7. I agree with pretty much every single one of these! As soon as I get up every morning I'm going through my feed, and although I'm not able to get through it completely, I visit a lot of blogs then. I'm trying to be better about being more active on Twitter, but I haven't got there completely yet.

    1. Twitter is a hard one! So many people are on there actively tweeting I find it impossible to follow along sometimes! I hope you get there soon :D (I'm going to find and follow you!)

  8. The postal workers get to me and my family pretty well due to all the packages that they deliver!
And yep, checking new posts and commenting is time consuming and I always feel like I don't have enough time!

    1. That's nice! I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my family that gets any sort of package lol. Also the postal service in Canada just isn't that great so delays do happen :S

Thank you for always checking out my posts Pili <3

  11. I can agree on most of these. I do love hardcovers -- the dust jackets and the crispness of them. But I also love paperbacks because I can carry them around more easily. And yeah, the lack of half star ratings is one of the main reasons I rarely star rate. Plus there's no consistency. On Goodreads one star just means "I didn't like it" while on some people's blog ratings one star means terrible. It's just very confusing sometimes!

    1. So true!! Star ratings are really hard to define but having half stars will just make it that much clearer ;) Paperbacks are definitely easier to carry around. Although I'm always paranoid I'll bent the pages :S

  12. I wish I had as much time as you to be checking out books and conversations on Goodreads! I feel I am really bad about doing that.

  14. Great list Eileen, I can definitely relate to spending way too much time on goodreads reading reviews and adding more books to my ever growing to-be-read list haha :) Here's my TTT if you would like to take a look :)
