Goodreads Summary:
For Sophie, small-town life has never felt small. She has the Yum Yum Shoppe, with its famous fourteen flavors of ice cream; her beloved marching band, the pride and joy of Acadia High (even if the football team disagrees); and her four best friends, loving and infuriating, wonderfully weird and all she could ever ask for.

Then August moves in next door. A quiet guy with a magnetic smile, August seems determined to keep everyone at arm's length. Sophie in particular.

Country stars, revenge plots, and a few fake kisses (along with some excellent real ones) await Sophie in this hilarious, heartfelt story.

Review

Emma Mills does it again!! I've had the pleasure of reading all of her books and I loved them all! Her stories always make me feel warm and fuzzy. With her signature charm and humour Famous in a Small Town was no different~

The writing was so effortless and natural my eyes were glued to the pages until the very end. All the relationships, whether it was familial or romantic, were realistic and relatable. The portrayal of the highs and lows in a friendship was especially excellent. Some of the dialogues had me grinning from ear to ear while the more heated exchanges had my insides tied in knots.

Sophie is easily one of the most likable characters I've read. She was kind and exuded goodness. Her romance with August was a cute slow-burn. They were an adorable and playful pair. August was a sweet guy although I wasn't impressed with how he kept holding himself back. It was obvious he had more-than-friends feelings for Sophie and I desperately wanted him to act on them. Seeing them together melted my heart into a gooey puddle of happiness <3

There's a really fun mystery in Famous in a Small Town. It feels a little different from Emma Mills's usual storyline but I loved it. A surprise I didn't know I wanted ;)

Famous in a Small Town was everything I wanted in a contemporary teen story. I can gush on and on about Emma Mills but seriously, just pick up one of her novels and see for yourself. I guarantee you will not want to stop at one book. Emma Mills is THAT good!

  2. I've never read any books by Emma Mills although I've been eyeing them. I'll probably have this pick this one up whenever I feel like reading maybe a light YA contemporary novel :)
