Goodreads Summary:
When Jordyn Michaelson’s autistic brother joins her at her elite school, she’s determined not to let anyone know they're related. Even if that means closing herself off to all her closest friends, including charming football stud Alex Colby. But despite her best intentions, she just can't shake the memory of kissing Alex last summer, and the desire to do it again. Can Jordyn find the courage to tell Alex how she really feels—and the truth about her family—before he slips away forever?
Review
I'm very surprised How to Say I Love You Out Loud is Karole Cozzo's debut novel. It's authentic and heartfelt- a gem of a read in every way.
What I Liked:
- such a cute cover
- an extremely touching story
- fast-paced, didn't drag
- an honest look at autism- the struggles on all sides
- candid conversations between child and parent
- Jordyn's growth was admirable
- Alex is the most sincere love interest
- a difficult romance but worth the wait
- some sweet and heart-pounding moments
- genuine friendships
The Not So Much:
- a bit too short
- the romance entanglement annoyed me
"Fair doesn't mean equal, fair means everyone gets what they need." (p. 20)
