Goodreads Summary:
For fans of Bridgerton, a YA Regency romance by Rosalyn Eves about three teenage girls, their big dreams, and a London Season gone awry.
When Thalia, Kalliope, and Charis set off to Regency London for their first Season, they each have clear goals--few of which include matrimony. Thalia means to make her mark among the intelligentsia and publish her poetry, Charis hopes to earn her place among the scientific elite, and Kalliope aims to take the fashionable ton by storm. But this Season, it doesn't take long for things to fall apart. Kalli finds herself embroiled in scandal and reliant upon an arranged marriage to redeem her reputation, Thalia's dreams of publication are threatened by her attraction to a charming rake, and Charis finds herself an unexpected social hit--and the source of a family scandal that her heart might not survive. Can this roller-coaster Season find its happily ever after?
An Improbable Season is a voicy, swoony regency drama about falling in love--with another person, with new opportunities, and with yourself.
Review
When I first read the synopsis of An Improbable Season I knew I'd love it. I was so right. Watching smart ladies realize their potentials and quietly defy social standards was deeply satisfying.
An Improbable Season features three ladies with very different personalities and goals. Restricted by polite society, each lady fought for themselves in their own way. The romances were all fun to watch play out. Kalliope's story was surprisingly unpredictable and my favourite while Charis's was the most swoon-worthy and Thalia's was a heart-pounding lesson learned.
The best part of An Improbable Season was the support network. The girls shared a close bond. Despite not always seeing eye to eye on things, they cared greatly for one another. "The unhappy consequences of your actions will stay with you far longer than people's disappointment." (p. 238) They also had family who looked out for them no matter what foolish act they commit.
An Improbable Season is everything I love about regency romances. I need more. Since one girl's story seems to be unfinished, I hope we get another book?! Pretty please!!!
