Goodreads Summary:
What happens when a girl who always calls the shots meets a guy who's too wild for even her?

A born flirt and good-time party girl, Emerson has never had a problem finding a willing guy. She's always chosen her hookups carefully, and she's never broken her three cardinal rules:

Never let them see the real you.
Never fall in love.
Always leave them begging for more.

Then Shaw comes along. A hottie from the wrong side of the tracks, he's immune to her flirtatious banter and come-hither smile. After rescuing her from a disastrous night at a biker bar, he doesn't even try to take her to bed—he calls her a tease and sends her home instead. Unable to resist a challenge, or forget the sexy, dark-eyed, bad-boy biker, she vows to bring him to his knees.

But instead of making Shaw beg, Emerson finds herself craving him. For the first time in her life, she's throwing out her rule book. Suddenly, she's the one panting for a guy she can't control—a guy who won't settle for anything less than the real Emerson and who forces her to do things she's never imagined, including facing a past she thought she'd buried.

A guy who just might leave her wanting more. . . .

Review

I read Foreplay a few months ago and really enjoyed the characters. I decided to read the next two books in the series since both books are out now so no waiting yay! While these aren't the best New Adult books I've read, the stories were decent reads.

Emerson's (Em) a pretty girl who's always flirty and only into casual hookups. Or at least that's what she wants everyone to think of her. It worked up until she met Shaw. He cracks her carefully-constructed image because he sees the real her. Obviously she wanted him just as much as he wanted her. So I was a little tired of her continuous internal struggles. She kept talking about how much she wanted Shaw then mentally slapping herself for it. There was too much mentally agreeing with what he said but not letting herself agree with him out loud. I understand that she was scared but what happened with her stepbrother was completely not her fault. And what a real piece of work her mother was! Makes me furious just thinking about it. It was maddening to see how much they affected Em's ability to live her life.

Shaw's the perfect guy for Em. Maybe it's cause we weren't inside his head but I found his actions to be endearing. I loved how unrelenting he was! Em repeatedly rejects him but he doesn't give up.  He's thoughtful and patient with her. If it wasn't for him, she would've never had the courage to face her demons. Cheers to him for bringing her out of the shadows and doubts her mother created. His family issue felt unresolved though. I guess it goes to show that life can't be peaches and cream for everyone. But, like Shaw, we should definitely give it our best to grab and/or hold onto what we want!
