Goodreads Summary:
A sexy agent hounds Wall Street’s hottest new wolf in an exhilarating novel from New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne.

Ian Bradley is the definition of a Wall Street hotshot: seven-figure salary, designer suits, and a corner office. His drive off the floor is just as potent. Every woman who knows him has felt the rush. But now he’s met his match in Lara McKenzie—a woman with the power to bring Ian to his knees.

An ambitious, whip-smart daughter of FBI agents, Lara is a rising star in fighting white-collar crime. Her latest case—the investigation of Ian Bradley for insider trading—could make her career. She knows a scoundrel when she sees one. Ian fits the bill: a cocky, ridiculously handsome bad boy with a slick swagger.

She’ll do anything to prove he’s guilty. He’ll do anything to prove he’s not. But it’s only a matter of time before their fierce battle of wits gets oh so hot and personal. Now, taking down Ian has become more than business for Lara. It’s become a pleasure—and there’s more at risk than she ever dreamed.

Review

Throw anything Lauren Layne my way and I'll read it. I've got a ton of backlist reviews I still need to share but I've yet to read one book of hers that I didn't enjoy. I don't even need to know what the story's about because, with Lauren Layne, I know I'm guaranteed a sexy good time ;) Hot Asset was exactly that.

Lara is a by the book kind of person. I admire her drive, her patience and resolve at attaining her dream job through the proper channel. Her strong sense of right and wrong made it easy to root for her. Ian Bradley was a complication she didn't need. Yet it's one that she very much desired (even if she didn't want to admit it at first). His charm, persistence and sincerity were impossible to ignore. I love how she threw his perfect world off balance. We see a more serious side of him that he usually hides. Lara's the one challenge he definitely didn't want to fail.

From the first moment Ian set eyes on Lara it was obvious where things would go. They may have professionally been on opposing sides but that couldn't stop genuine feelings from developing. The ever present conflict of interest made the tension between them even sexier and more arousing. Who wouldn't want a taste of the forbidden? Their banter was fun but it was lovely watching them connect on a deeper more meaningful level.

My favourite thing about Lauren Layne's books is her characters. She just excels at bringing them out. Matt, Sabrina, Kennedy and Kate were nothing short of amazing. They never failed to be supportive and their good-natured teasing always made me laugh. Also, the way Ms. Layne introduces these side characters effortlessly sets up the story arcs for the sequels. I love it!

Every time I read a Lauren Layne book I know I'll be picking up anything else she writes. Her stories are addictive and there's no way I'd pass up for more good times. Especially when they feature dashing men in suits ;)
