The short answer is nope, I have never been to BEA. Since I'm in Canada and BEA is in New York, I'd need to take time off work, book flights, hotel and etc. Lots of work involved. My main reason though is because I'd be going alone if I go. I don't want to drag my family or friends to something they're not interested in and going alone just seems really scary so.... I hope I can go to a book event one day though!

Have you been to BEA? Thank you for stopping by!
The travel aspect has kept me away from BEA, but maybe one day.
ReplyDeleteSame, that's always the hardest part :S
DeleteI hear you on the time off, cost, and travel aspects. BUUUUUT... as far as going it alone that's easy to solve. People are always looking for buddies to hang out with and room with. Like I would totally be your buddy (just not the hotel stuff because I stay with my brother which is free). Just keep that in mind. It's super fun and it would be so great to meet you in person!

I would love to meet you and all the other awesome book bloggers I know! I am a little on the shy side so hopefully you won't mind me being quiet a lot of the time? Haha~ Thanks for making me feel better about going though <3
DeleteI haven't either but I really really want to someday. It just looks like so much fun, crowds and all!
ReplyDeleteI hope I get to see you there one day!
DeleteI haven't been either. True International flights costs crazy! But I do want to though. New follower via GFC and twitter. Check out my very first FF
ReplyDeleteAwww India is definitely farther than Canada haha. I hope you do get to go one day though!
DeleteI haven't been there either. I live a few states away from NY, but still far enough where I'd have to pay a plane or train ticket, a hotel room, and a bunch of other stuff. I hope that you can one day go though! Old follower!

Thanks Lizzie! I hope you get to go one day too :D
DeleteI haven't been to BEA. It's way too expensive.
ReplyDeleteOld follower.

Yep. For me, the travelling cost alone is high :(
DeleteI actually live in NYC, but I'm a new blogger and I don't want to go somewhere alone, so I'm not going this year. Maybe sometime in the future though, if it ends up being in New York again :)

When you feel more comfortable, definitely go check BEA out! I've met some really awesome bloggers online and I'm sure they're just as awesome in person ;)
DeleteI haven't been to BEA, and flights from Ireland to the States don't come cheap! I'm in the same boat with no body willing to go :( It would be awesome for bloggers to meet up in person, though =) Maybe one day it'll happen! Have a great weekend, Eileen :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it'll come true one day!
DeleteI wouldn't want to go alone either!
ReplyDeleteOld follower :)
FF!
The crowd can definitely be scary eh :)
DeleteThis is pretty much my reason too! Cost and going alone.
ReplyDeleteMost of us seem to share the same reasons :(
DeleteI haven't been to BEA yet but I'm totally going this year! The whole going on your own can be scary, but since I'm rooming with a few of my bloggy friends it's gonna be pretty awesome I'm sure! And I cannot wait to meet loads of bloggers and authors and be overwhelmed with the masses!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you!! It's so awesome to be able to meet them in person. Definitely looking forward to pictures when BEA rolls around :D
DeleteI will :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat! I live in California and the traveling would be so hard but my sister and I are hoping one day to go!
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice to go with your sister! Hope you both go one day :)
DeleteI'm hoping to be able to go this year, but it's not set. I have similar issues as you--Canadian with no friends irl with similar interests :P Which part of Canada do you live in? I live in Atlantic Canada so it's not toooo far. Ish. I'm hoping to make more blogger friends first tho! That way I wouldn't be alone when I got there... But I'm shy too so I feel you! I have heard too that a lot of bloggers that go are really friendly and like to meet up and share hotels and whatnot.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the westcoast so it's far for me haha. A lot of the bloggers are super nice. I've met a ton on Twitter and they're just so awesome :D
DeleteI just drag my husband around to all of the events I want to go to. I don't drive and i'm also really shy. I think he usually enjoys himself well enough though. But I haven't been to BEA.
ReplyDeleteOld follower!
My FF!
