TTT #42: Books I Want to Make My Sisters Read

Top Ten Tuesday button

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish where people share their top ten things according to the topic of that week.

So a while back, I succeeded in getting my sister to read The Fault in Our Stars~ *happy dance* She really enjoyed it and shed tears too. So for this week's freebie Top Ten, I thought it would be fun to make a list of books I'd push, force, coerce, recommend to my sisters who aren't really avid readers!

Liars, Inc. by Paula StokesThe Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver
1. Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes - So I haven't really read this one yet buttttt I just know it's going to be awesome and I want my sisters to read it so we can all guess the killer together ;)
2. The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver - I want to see what my twin sister would think of this one!

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie WestFangirl by Rainbow RowellTo All the boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
3. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West - Cuteness needs to be shared!
4. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - Another adorable one that they need in their life~
5. To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han - I feel like we're really similar to the Song sisters so I want them to try this book.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara RaaschThe Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
6. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch - I guessed the twist about half way through the book. I need to see if they will too :D
7. Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers - Assassin nuns are not to be missed!!
8. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson - I wonder if my sisters will guess correctly who's who~~~

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. SchwabThe Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
9. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - They need to experience the awesomeness that is this book!
10. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon - I want them to feel my pain in waiting for each book to come out. Just kidding~ This series is epic and mindblowing and they need to see if for themselves!!

What books would you want your family or friends to read?

  1. Liars, Inc. was definitely fantastic. You and your sisters will have so much fun reading it and getting through all the twists.

And I didn't know you had a twin sister! It would interesting to see her reaction on a book about twins. :)

I didn't love The Fill-in Boyfriend or To All the Boys, but I definitely agree with Fangirl! Super adorable.

YES as well to Snow Like Ashes and Grave Mercy. Such awesome ones, those books. <3

Fantastic topic choice this week, Eileen!

    1. Thanks Aimee! I so need to read Liars, Inc.!! It's the first book on my to-buy list so soon!! I find that there are actually a lot of bloggers who have twins (that don't read lol)! Like Shelly from Read.Sleep.Repeat.~~

  3. I'm proud to say that I got my sister to read TFIOS as well! And she loved it. She wanted to read Fangirl as well, but when she learned that it was based on a Harry Potter-like book, she decided against it. sigh.

    1. Wahh what's wrong with HP-like? That's like the best part lol~ I'm glad she enjoyed TFiOS though :)

  5. This is a great list of books. There are so many books I wish my sister would read too. She doesn't read a lot of fiction though. I like the idea of wanting them to read books about sisters.

    1. But she reads!! I can't imagine my twin sister reading anything except when she's forced to read her textbooks lol.... Nice that your sister reads :)

  6. I'm going to read The Fill-In Boyfriend this week! I'm really looking forward to it! I guessed the twist in Snow Like Ashes about halfway, too, but I still loved the book. I want to start the next book, but it's not out until October, so it'll be a ridiculously long wait for the next book. All the rest of these books are in my tbr pile. Great topic choice!

  8. LOL! What a great topic. I've got three younger sisters and we're always comparing books since we all have drastically different go-to books even though we like a lot of the same as well. There are some great titles up there too. Hope you convince them. My TTT List.

    1. So nice that you all read!! I'm hopeful I'll get my older sister to read some of these but my twin sister...not so much lol!

  9. Awesome list and topic! My sister is nine at the moment, but I am actually counting down the days (over-exaggerating, obviously YEARS) until she'll be able to start reading YA. I have so many favourites for her, and I agree—Liars, Inc., The Kiss of Deception, To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Fangirl will all be part of those ASAP-YOU-MUST-READ books! Hopefully she'll love reading as much as I do!

  10. Except for one book that I haven't read, I agree 100% with the other 9 recommendations for your sisters, because I adoooore them too!!

    1. Pili-approved!! <3 Even all the more reasons to push these on them ;)

  11. OOH, I love this idea for a list. How can you coerce them to read these? They're all so great. (I try to push Fangirl in particular on everyone I know and love, with limited success.) Also, I keep seeing The Fill in Boyfriend EVERYWHERE - I guess this means I need to read it.

You've also got me thinking of what I would rec to my sister (who also isn't a big reader. She weirdly likes nonfiction more than fiction, which is the total opposite of me.)

    1. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of strapping them down to a chair and putting a book in front of them hahaha ;) The Fill-In Boyfriend was adorable! I hope you love it! If only my sisters read anything at all!

  12. 100% YES to the last two on your list!

  13. Nice topic! My sister has nicknamed my bedroom "the library" because I have so many books! She borrows stuff from me during the holidays when she's back from uni.
