About the Author:
Marieke Nijkamp was born and raised in the Netherlands. A lifelong student of stories, language, and ideas, she is more or less proficient in about a dozen languages and holds degrees in philosophy, history, and medieval studies. She is a storyteller, dreamer, globe-trotter, geek. Her debut young adult novel This Is Where It Ends, a contemporary story that follows four teens over the course of the fifty-four minutes of a school shooting, will be published by Sourcebooks Fire in January 2016.

  1. Even though I don't have a full-time job yet, a school shooting is one of my biggest fears as a teacher. I don't even know how I'd react if something like that ever happened. I don't even want to think about it.

    However, I'm really interested in fictional books about school shootings. I almost wrote one last year, but I felt like I didn't know enough to continue with it.

    Anyway, I think that's why I'm really drawn to This is Where It Ends. I just need to read this book to see everything that happens. I'm sure I'll cry, but I'm ready for it.

    1. I know what you mean. We were all in school once and I can't imagine having to face a shooting. Also my sister and tons of my friends are teachers so I'm always praying for their safety.

      Maybe this book will give you a better idea so you can continue your story! I'm scared to read this book but at the same time I know I have to read it. You definitely won't be the only one crying Erin.
