Hi! Firstly, I am so excited to be here today! This week, I am launching my Etsy store, Bookish Serendipity Co, where I sell affordable jewelry and accessories inspired by books. Reading has always been important to me. When I was younger, I would spent hours curled up with a good book. As I grew older, I never lost that love for reading and the written word. I've always loved crafting and creating new things, which is why I am ridiculously excited to be able to share my work with the world. All my jewelry and accessories at Bookish Serendipity Co are handcrafted by me, and available in limited quantities. This is to ensure that not only do you receive a product you love, but receive something that is incredibly unique! I love creating my products, and I want to ensure that you love your purchases just as much as I do. Today I'm going to be highlighting a few of my absolute favourite jewelry pieces available for sale at Bookish Serendipity Co.

TFiOS "Okay" Earrings1. The Fault In Our Stars- "Okay" Earrings First of all, how adorable are these earrings? I wear them all the time myself, and absolutely love them. The antique silver "Okay" charms dangle from silver plated earring hooks to create a charming pair of earrings. The Fault In Our Stars means so much to millions of people. The phrase "Okay" carries a lot of significance in The Fault In Our Stars, which is why I thought it was the perfect phrase to represent the book. Seriously, I love this piece.

Typewriter Pendant2. Typewriter Pendant
How charming is this silver pendant necklace? I wear it all the time, and often get compliments on it. It features a photo of an antique typewriter. This necklace makes the perfect gift for yourself or another bookish friend. This necklace was made with a silver plated pendant featuring the book cover and antique silver moon charm on a silver plated 20" chain. It looks fantastic with both neutral and bold tones, and is ideal for everyday wear.

3. Custom Book Necklace
With so many books available, there's no way I could create a jewelry piece for each! Instead, I offer an option to create your very own custom book necklace. This package includes a photo pendant where you can feature something from the book, such as your favourite quote, word, or even the book cover, as well as a charm inspired by the book. There are so many possibilities for this necklace! I've tried many things for this custom necklace, and the results always look fantastic. You can check out the shop for examples. About Bookish Serendipity Co. At Bookish Serendipity Co, you can find a variety of jewelry pieces and accessories inspired by books that are both affordable and beautiful. Bookish Serendipity Co is run by me, a teen blogger and entrepreneur. All pieces are handmade for you, perfect for everyday wear. Looking to share your passion for books with the world? Bookish Serendipity Co is for you.

Q&A with Jessica!

1. What motivated you to start your own shop?
I’ve always loved books and reading. Once I discovered jewelry-making, it made sense for me to make jewelry inspired by literature and my love of words! The decision to start a business was a little trickier, and a few factors contributed to it. Firstly, I was very interested in business and what it takes to run your own business. I also wanted a way to share my jewelry with the world. Etsy is one of the most popular platforms for selling hand-crafted products so it seemed like the perfect fit for me and my work!

2. Tell us a little about your creation process.
The first stage is always the brainstorming and inspiration phase, when I start to think about what I want to make. I have some jewelry-making materials that I use for the actual crafting, but much of the difficult work is actually done on my computer. I use Photoshop to create the design once I have a plan, and once that is done, I put the piece together! It sounds simple when I lay it out like that, but I was surprised to learn that these stages can take quite some time.

3. Are there particular inspirations you draw from for your creations?
Yes! When I decide that I want to create a piece based on a certain book, I try to think about how I can represent the essence of that story in a single piece of jewelry. Take my TFIOS earrings, for example, which you can see above. I started off by brainstorming important elements of this book, and landed upon the famous phrase “Okay.” It is amazing how that one word can represent hundreds of pages and many complex characters, but it does. The sentence seemed to be ideal to represent The Fault In Our Stars because of that.

4. Which item is your favourite to make? Why?
Reader, Fangirl and Writer 3 pack 1
I’m going to cheat a little and name my favorite 3 pendants: the “Reader” pendant, the “Fangirl” pendant, and the “Writer” pendant. You can buy these three pendants individually, or as a set! They’re absolutely adorable. I’m completely IN LOVE.
